ZeroConfig vs LiteSpeed Cache

Competitor facts checked 25 October 2026 on their public websites

LiteSpeed Cache is free, open source and installed on more than 7 million sites. On a LiteSpeed server it is hard to beat. Its page cache, though, needs LiteSpeed (or QUIC.cloud CDN), and image optimisation and critical CSS are QUIC.cloud services with monthly quotas. Here is how it compares with ZeroConfig.

Choose ZeroConfig if

  • Your host runs Apache or Nginx. LiteSpeed Cache's page cache requires "OpenLiteSpeed, commercial LiteSpeed products, LiteSpeed-powered hosting, or QUIC.cloud CDN"; ZeroConfig's page cache works on any web server.
  • You want one switch instead of a settings panel with many tabs.
  • You want a check on your own pages that switches off a feature when it changes how a page looks.

Choose LiteSpeed Cache if

  • Your host runs LiteSpeed. Its server-level cache is excellent and free, and the plugin is the natural fit.
  • You want everything free and are happy to stay within QUIC.cloud's monthly quotas or buy credits.
  • You want fine control over each optimisation, or features ZeroConfig leaves out (database cleanup, object cache settings).
  • You want a plugin with a long record on WordPress.org (rated 4.8 of 5 there). ZeroConfig is in beta and not listed yet.

1 siteFree, or $39/year (Pro)Free; QUIC.cloud credits when quotas run out

QUIC.cloud quotas reset monthly and depend on the server (higher on LiteSpeed servers). Prices from QUIC.cloud's cost pages. ZeroConfig's paid plans open after the beta; prices are yearly, in US dollars.

Switching from LiteSpeed Cache

  1. Deactivate and delete LiteSpeed Cache. Two page caches fight over the same files; ZeroConfig warns you if it sees another optimiser still active.
  2. Install ZeroConfig (Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin) and press Turn on under Settings → ZeroConfig.
  3. A few minutes later the Safety Check has loaded your pages with and without each feature; "Is it working?" shows the result.
  4. If your host runs LiteSpeed and you only wanted fewer settings, consider staying: LiteSpeed's server cache is a genuine advantage.

Questions

My host uses LiteSpeed. Should I switch?

Probably not for the page cache alone: LiteSpeed Cache uses the server's own cache, which is very fast. ZeroConfig makes most sense on Apache or Nginx hosting, or if you want image conversion and critical CSS without managing quotas.

Can I run both?

No. Two page caches and two minifiers conflict. Pick one.

Is ZeroConfig free like LiteSpeed Cache?

The Free plan is: page cache, minify, deferral, lazy load and 500 images a month for one site. Critical CSS and script delay are in Pro ($39/year once paid plans open).

Try it on your own site. The Free plan covers one site with no card. Install, press Turn on, and compare your PageSpeed score before and after.
